About Louise

Meet Dr Louise Reilly

I’m a Chartered Educational Psychologist (C. Psychol., Ps.S.I) with a BA, an M.Sc and a Doctorate in Educational Psychology (D.Ed.Psych). For over ten years I’ve supported children, families, schools and organisations to understand what’s happening and agree simple, workable steps that make daily life easier.

I believe every child and every team deserves to be understood. When behaviour or learning is confusing, I help you get to the “why” and then turn that insight into clear actions that fit real routines. I use clear language, focus on strengths as well as challenges, and keep the process calm, kind, and practical.

We finally felt someone understood both us and our child. Louise explained everything clearly, and for the first time we left with a plan we could actually follow.

Our Mission

I’ve seen too many families and teachers left waiting for months, struggling to get answers, or holding reports they couldn’t use. My mission is to make sure that never happens here.

At Essential Educational Psychology Clinic, you’ll get timely support, clear answers from someone you can trust, and guidance you can actually use in daily life.

Our Story

After more than a decade working in psychology, one thing became clear to me: families, teachers, and children deserve more than long waits and confusing reports. Too often, people walked away without real answersI knew I could do better, and now I do.

That's why I started Essential Educational Psychology Clinic. Here, every recommendation is explained in plain English and shaped to fit real life. I don't hand over a stack of jargon; I work with you, step by step, so you know exactly what's happening and what to do next.

Over the past ten years, I've supported individuals, families, schools and organisations across Ireland, working with NEPS teams and using evidence-based approaches that work in real life, not just on paper. My Chartered status and doctoral training mean you get the highest level of expertise, delivered simply.

Process

How we’ll work together

I don’t just point out problems. I listen, help you make sense of what’s really going on, and guide you towards clear, practical next steps.

1. Book a First Conversation

Choose a time online or in person that suits you. This first step is simply a space to talk things through, share your concerns, and feel heard. There’s no pressure and no judgment.

2. Decide Next Steps Together

We’ll explore what’s happening and agree on the best way forward. That could be therapy, an assessment, or simple strategies you can use right away. You’ll only commit to what’s actually needed.

3. Put Support Into Action

You’ll leave with clarity and a plan that makes sense in real life. Whether at home, in school, or in your organisation, you’ll know what to do next and feel confident you’re on the right path.
